I am a husband, married for 30 years to the love of my life, and my high school sweetheart, Kate.

I am a dad, blessed with eight incredible kids ages 28 to 11. You can call us the “Happily Married Jon and Kate plus Eight!”

I am a teacher. After teaching math for eight years in the Gary, Indiana, school system, I moved to Indiana University Northwest, where I have taught for the past 21 years.

The Becker Family!

The Becker Family!

I am a homeschooler. For the past 20+ years, we have successfully taught our kids at home. We now have two college graduates, two more kids in college, and four that we still teach at home.

I am a speaker. Nothing brings me more joy and personal satisfaction than sharing my heart with a group of fellow travelers on the highway of life.

I am a blogger. Writing allows me to share with those whom I may not have a chance to meet in person.

I am an imperfect Christian, clinging to the grace of God. Without Him, I would be completely lost.

Jon is a Senior Lecturer in Mathematics at Indiana University Northwest. Since 2001, Jon has been recognized throughout the Indiana University system for his superior ability to connect with his students both academically and relationally. Jon has won eight awards for excellence in teaching, including the Indiana University President’s Award for Distinguished Teaching, IU’s highest teaching honor. He is the former Chair of FALCON (FACET’s Adjunct Faculty and Lecturer Conference) a national conference focused on mentoring and equipping college instructors across all academic disciplines.
